  • Assessment: Our team of nurse practitioners and therapists will complete a full psychiatric assessment, which includes the diagnosis of any mood or mental health conditions, as well as ADHD testing, to provide an accurate diagnosis.

  • Treatment: We can prescribe medications to manage symptoms of ADHD, such as antidepressants, mood stabilizers, stimulant or non-stimulant options.

  • Counselling: We provide psychotherapy to support our clients in developing tools to manage their ADHD symptoms and other life challenges. Our team includes therapists and child psychologists, specialized in working with individuals with ADHD. 

  • Family Support: We work with parents & caregivers to offer education, support, resources & tools to support their loved ones

  • Advocacy: We provide letters of accomodation work workplaces and schools, offer eduction & reports wehn required 

  • Psychiatric Report: Detailed psychiatric reports are available upon request

ADHD SERVICES

1) How is an ADHD assessment conducted at Thrive Therapy Services? At Thrive Therapy Services, our Nurse Practitioners and licensed therapists conduct comprehensive, clinician-led psychiatric assessments. Rather than using simple symptom checklists, we evaluate attention, executive functioning, mental health history (such as overlapping anxiety, trauma, or mood disorders), lifestyle, and hormonal factors to ensure an accurate diagnosis and a personalized treatment plan.

2) Who can perform ADHD assessments and prescribe medication at Thrive? Our primary care Nurse Practitioners (NPs) perform complete psychiatric assessments, diagnose ADHD in children and adults, and prescribe both stimulant and non-stimulant medications. Our registered therapists and social workers provide complementary ADHD-focused psychotherapy, skill-building, and executive functioning coaching.

3) Can I get ADHD testing and treatment virtually in Ontario? Yes. Thrive Therapy Services provides virtual ADHD assessments, medication management, and therapy to clients living anywhere in Ontario.

4) Where can I receive in-person ADHD care with Thrive Therapy Services? In-person consultations, assessments, and therapy sessions are available at our physical clinic locations across the Durham Region and Northumberland County, including Port Perry, Whitby, Brooklin, and Cobourg.

5) Does an ADHD assessment include support for school or workplace accommodations? Yes. Following your assessment, our team can provide formal psychiatric reports and letters of accommodation for schools, universities, and workplaces to help you access needed support and academic/job adjustments.

6) Can Nurse Practitioners in Ontario prescribe ADHD medications? Yes. Licensed Nurse Practitioners in Ontario have full authority to assess, diagnose, and prescribe both stimulant (e.g., Vyvanse, Concerta) and non-stimulant ADHD medications, as well as provide ongoing medication management and follow-up care.

7) What treatment options do you offer besides medication? We provide holistic, wraparound ADHD care that includes: Psychotherapy & Counselling: Developing practical coping strategies, time-management tools, and emotional regulation skills. Parent & Family Coaching: Helping caregivers support children and teens with ADHD. Medication Management: Ongoing monitoring to adjust dosages and manage side effects effectively.

8) Do I need a doctor's referral to book an ADHD assessment at Thrive? No, a physician referral is not required. You can book an assessment directly with our team or schedule a free 20-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs first.
