Our team of social workers and psychotherapists are trained to help youths and adults with a number of mental health issues, including ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, emotional regulation, relationship issues, self-esteem, substance use,  and many more.​

 

​We offer an optional FREE 20 minute telephone consultation with our counsellors to ensure we are the best fit to meet your individual needs. Available virtually across Ontario, or in-person at select locations (Cobourg, Whitby, Port Perry, and Brooklin).

Our therapists are excited to meet you. Wherever you are on your journey to mental health, through our counselling services, we seek to provide you with the space, guidance and tools to empower you to live a better and healthier life. ​

 

Together, we’ll identify the nature of the problems that you’re dealing with and help you develop the habits and skills to effectively deal with the challenges and emotional moments you may encounter in life.

Our clinicians combine a variety of backgrounds and experience. We use evidence-based techniques and a variety of approaches and modalities to support our clients in reaching their optimum level of health and wellness.

If you are not sure you are ready to quit but want to find ways to make your substance use or situation safer, we are here to help you develop coping tools and strategies to manage your addiction and support your mental health.

Our certified addiction professionals can support clients in reducing their addiction or quitting alcohol use.

We can help treat and manage symptoms of withdrawal, as well as prescribe medications designed to prevent cravings.

COUNSELLING SERVICES

1) What general counselling services does Thrive Therapy Services offer? Thrive Therapy Services provides evidence-based psychotherapy and counselling for youth, adults, and couples. Our licensed Social Workers and Psychotherapists support clients dealing with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, low self-esteem, life transitions, relationship challenges, trauma, stress, and grief.

2) What therapy modalities and techniques do your counsellors use? Our therapists tailor treatment to each client's unique needs using evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed approaches.

3) What is the difference between a counsellor and a Nurse Practitioner at Thrive? Our Registered Social Workers and Psychotherapists provide talk therapy, skill-building, coping strategies, and emotional support. Our primary care Nurse Practitioners (NPs) can conduct medical and psychiatric assessments, diagnose mental health conditions, and prescribe or manage psychiatric medications when medical management is needed alongside therapy.

4) Are counselling services covered by private health insurance or benefits in Ontario? Yes. Most private health benefit plans and extended health insurance policies in Ontario cover services provided by Registered Social Workers (RSW) and Registered Psychotherapists (RP). We also provide direct billing for many major benefit providers.

5) Can I receive counselling virtually across Ontario? Yes. We offer confidential, secure virtual counselling and psychotherapy sessions to individuals and couples residing anywhere in Ontario.

6) Where can I attend in-person counselling sessions with Thrive? In-person therapy appointments are available at our physical clinic locations across the Durham Region and Northumberland County, including Port Perry, Whitby, Brooklin, and Cobourg.

7) Do I need a doctor's referral to start therapy at Thrive? No, a physician's referral is not required to access counselling services. You can book an initial session directly online or schedule a free 20-minute phone consultation to discuss your needs and find the best therapist match.
