Meet Shelly Munro

Shelly is a Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years experience working in the area of Mental Health & Addictions as both a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner.

She is trained & certified as a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and has experience working in the areas of primary care as well as Psychiatric care settings.  Shelly was a part of developing CMHA's first Flexible Support Clinic which offered primary care services to clients who were homeless or precariously housed.  This background & experience allows Shelly to manage a vast array of both primary care & mental health needs.

Shelly has spent the past 8 years working as a Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry, she has developed extensive knowledge in assessing, diagnosing & treating many mental health conditions including depression & anxiety, bipolar disorder as well as ADHD in adolescents & adults.

Shelly has worked at organizations such as CAMH, CMHA & Ontario Shores Center for Mental Health Sciences. She has been an invited speaker at international conferences, been a faculty member of the TEACH training initiative, and published several research studies in the area of addictions & mental health.

 

Shelly utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities in her treatment including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative & Psychodynamic Therapies, Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Shelly has certifications in CBT, CBT for Youth, ASIST training, as well as holds her Certificate in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing (CPMHN(C)).
